Manual Therapy

Manual therapy is a technique used by your therapist to improve joint mobility, muscle flexibility, soft tissue mobility, and decrease pain.

Joint mobilization is a technique performed by your therapist to improve mobility and mechanics of the joint to help decrease pain and improve function of the joint. It entails a therapist pushing or stretching a joint in a certain pattern to gain range of motion.

Manual stretching is where a therapist stretches the muscles that are tight and need to be elongated to improve mobility and decrease pain.

Soft Tissue mobilization is a technique like massage to help decrease swelling and help realign muscle fibers to promote proper healing and improving function.

Manual therapy can also help decrease pain by stimulating the body to improve edema consumption and decrease the uptake to pain receptors.

Your therapist will help you determine at the time of your email if and what manual therapy is appropriate for you at that time.
